Californians Will Soon Have 5 Sick Days Per Year

Starting January 1st 2024, California workers will be getting more sick days from their employers.

Companies are being forced to provide at least five sick days per year to every worker, as mandated by a new law signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Currently workers get three paid sick days.

Newsom says the new law is needed because too many workers decide to come to work sick instead of staying home and taking care of themselves because they are too worried about losing pay for being sick.
