CA Restricting “Addictive Content” In 2027

A new law on the books in California bans online platforms from offering feeds and content that might be addictive to children, unless parent consent.

But that law won’t take effect until 2027.  The law also bans notifications on a cell phone without parental permission between midnight and 6 a.m., and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays from September through May, when kids are typically in school.

There are also legislative efforts being pushed by Governor Gavin Newsom to ban cellphones completely  in classrooms in California.
