FIND FOOD BANK in the Coachella Valley is getting help from the California National Guard.
Twenty-five Guard members are working with FIND, because 70% of the volunteers who usually help FIND are not helping right now, due to coronavirus.
A lot of the volunteers at FIND FOOD BANK are senior citizens and they are in the high risk group for coronavirus.
So, the Guard members will be helping distribute food, and pack boxes and load trucks alongside FIND FOOD BANK employees..
On a typical month, FIND FOOD BANK feeds 90-thousand people here in the Coachella Valley.
They expect to feed even more now, in the face of the coronavirus forcing many businesses to lay off people, due to everyone staying home.
FIND Food Bank supports more than 120 feeding sites throughout the desert region, including 22 free mobile markets, homeless shelters, community feeding sites and food pantries.
