California Attorney General Rob Bonta is filing an appeal that would block last week’s ruling overturning California’s 32-year-old ban on assault weapons.

In that ruling,  in early June 2021, Federal District Judge Roger Benitez struck down California’s ban on assault weapons, that had been on the books for more than 3 decades,  saying it had “no effect” on curtailing mass shootings.

The Attorney General is asking the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to put the ruling on hold.
