Sheriffs deputies are still looking for 53 year old Lisa Vargas and have issued a warrant for her arrest.
She is wanted in connection with a recent fatal shooting on the west side of Palm Springs.
36 year old Fabian Herrera (photo above), who is a bail agent, but has no license to prove it, shot and killed 33 year old David Spann in a confrontation at a home on East Via Escuela near Indian Canyon Drive.
Police were called to the residence just before 2 o’clock in the morning on Friday April 23rd, to find Spann wielding a knife and Herrera trying to arrest Spann for an outstanding warrant.
Spann had called police saying a man was breaking into his home.
Herrera called police to say Spann was a wanted fugitive.
When police arrived, Spann refused to drop the knife. Police used a stun gun, which had no effect on Spann.
Herrera pulled out a gun and shot and killed Spann.
Palm Springs Police never fired a shot.
Police arrested Herrera, who himself is already a convicted felon with 2 previous convictions for assault with a deadly weapon.
Turns out a bail agency wanted Spann, but police had no outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Herrera is facing a murder charge.
Riverside County Sheriffs Dept investigators are looking for Lisa Vargas who had some involvement with Herrara prior to the deadly outcome.
