At least four people are dead and another two-dozen are hurt after a suspected smuggling boat capsized off the coast near San Diego.
With strong winds, and heavy surf, the 40-foot cabin cruiser crashed into a reef and capsized Sunday morning May 2nd 20201 off Point Loma, near Cabrillo National Monument.
Border Patrol officials say the boat broke apart.
The survivors were taken to area hospitals. One of them is in critical condition.
In a separate incident, Wednesday night April 28th at 11 o’clock, the Border Patrol arrested 2 smugglers, who were onboard a small boat found adrift 11 miles off the coast of Point Loma. That boat had no navigational lights visible when the Border Patrol found it.
There were 21 Mexican nationals on that boat.
