Air Smells Bad Again
The Salton Sea is wreaking havoc with our nostrils again.
All weekend long, the levels of hydrogen sulfide wafting from the Sea have exceeded the state limit of 30 parts per billion. Sometimes, readings near Mecca, Indio and the Salton Sea were 3 and 4 times that high.
Humans can smell that rotten egg smell, at just a few parts per billion.
So there is an Odor Alert in effect again for Monday August 12th 2024 in the Coachella Valley.
