Abi Entertains Thousands At Center Stage In Indio; Sings Duet With Her Mom
Awed by the boisterous supportive crowd, Abi Carter thrilled her legion of fans at Center Stage in Indio Tuesday night, singing for about one hour, even doing a duet with her mother, a song they performed during Open Call at the McCallum Theatre 11 years ago, I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.
She ended her surreal experience singing Hallelujah, saying Tuesday May 14th 2024 was “the most magical day and night of her life”, and no matter what happens on Sunday May 19th on American Idol, Tuesday night at 8:30 was “the best moment of my life”.
Abi shed some tears during an emotional night, enjoying her family being on stage with her, sharing some of her fears from her early years, saying she had gone from singing at VillageFest in Palm Springs to American Idol in such a short time. She even teased of her new song coming out May 17th 2024 a dedication song to her sister in Texas, then sang the song for the local crowd. The title…”This Isn’t Over”
While basking in the adulation from thousands of fans, and singing and playing the piano while a stiff wind jostled her long brown hair, Abi shared with the crowd, that her goal was never to win American Idol. Her goal was simply to survive the audition. But as she progressed in the competition, she became aware of what was possible.
She was able to laugh when she mentioned the thousands of people on hand to see her, was her “Coachellafest”.
Abi was able to pledge 20-thousand dollars to the local non-profit group Tools For Tomorrow, which she credited with giving her the early life lessons in music, which helped propel her to where she is today. She is among the Top 3 on American Idol with a chance to win the competition on Sunday May 19th 2024.
