Palm Springs Police Mourn Loss Of Two Officers

The Palm Springs Police Department is mourning the death of two of its patrol officers.

They were shot and killed Saturday afternoon as they responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on Cypress Road,  near Del Lago, north of Racquet Club, east of Sunrise Way.

26 year old John Felix has been taken into custody and is charged with murdering Officers Jose Vega and Lesley Zerebny .

Vega has been a police officer for 35 years in Palm Springs and was planning to retire in December.

Zerebny has been an officer for a year and a half.

She has just returned from maternity leave, and leaves behind a 4 month old baby, and a husband who works with the Riverside County Sheriffs Department.

One other officer was shot, and he is alert and recovering.
