A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy who killed an armed robbery suspect following a pursuit has returned to duty. Deputy Sean Vickers fatally shot 27-year-old Brandon James Leban around 2:30 last Thursday morning, outside a Moreno Valley apartment complex. Just before the shooting witnesses told police a man with a gun held up an AM/PM on Hemlock Avenue. Upon arrival deputies spotted the suspect’s car and gave chase. Following a short pursuit, Vickers caught up with the suspect and ordered him to the ground. The shooting occurred after Eban allegedly reached into his front pants pocket and turned towards Vickers. A silver toy gun was found in Leban’s possession. The investigation is continuing.
