Aftermath

To show you how truly sick I am...I feel an obligation to write a blog entry on a Saturday! I think the cause is lost...anyway...Sam and I teed it up this morning at Palm Desert Country Club...while our intention was to complete 18 holes...we made it only 9 due to the extreme humidity...and besides..Sam was beating me pretty handily...and I enjoyed the beating. I think I enjoy when I lose a golf match more than when I win simply because the person usually beating me...though not all the time...is my son. Sam effortlessly hits his drives over 300 yards...while I strain to hit it 270 anymore...we both are counting down the days until this time next year when we check into The Lodge at Pebble Beach and play golf for 5 days. Jimi..the greatest dog in the world..is sleeping under his favorite chair...little does he know that in an hour or so...he goes to the vet for his third puppy shot..parvo shot...whatever...he is getting big...about 26 pounds...but he still enjoys getting in my lap when I sit down on the floor with him and chews his rawhide bone...which I have to hold of course....Eagle Scouts are coming over this afternoon to play their upcoming trip to Camp Filmont..in New Mexico coming up in a month or so...that is another thing I love about Sam...he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout..and has remained active...helping younger scouts upon their journey through scouting. Everybody, but me..leaves tomorrow for San Diego until Wednesday....so Jimi the dog and I become batchelors...looking for trouble....anyway...I hope this has not put anybody to sleep... Remember: ''Fear knocked at the door...faith answered..no one was there.'' Gary

BEARDS OK ON DISNEY WORKERS STARTING TODAY

Fri, Feb 03, 2012 5:38 am -0800 PST

Disneyland and Disney World workers can start sporting a beard to work as of today. It's a big change for the company that banned facial hair from the day Disneyland first opened decades ago until 2000, when rules were relaxed to allow for moustaches. And while that's all about to change, there are still limits. Beards and goatees will be OK as long as they're no more than a quarter-inch in length and not a “soul patch.”

Riverside County residents who neglected to purchase a license for their dog or failed to renew a license now have a chance to get one without penalties. The Department of Animal Services is offering a penalty amnesty until February 29th. They typically assess a $25 penalty for an overdue license application, but that fee is waived. The amnesty applies only to pet owners in unincorporated communities, and those whose dogs have been altered.
