The Thorny Theater in Palm Springs is known for artistically risque productions, like the recent adults-only “Dangerous” and British comedy “Cloud 9.” But company founder and director Arch Brown says next season could be their last, unless the theater can raise Ten-Thousand-Dollars to continue presenting the mostly gay-themed productions it’s known for. Brown has put his own money in, but the economy has hit him as well. The 44-seat theater at 25000 North Palm Canyon Drive recently raised ticket prices from 20-Dollars to 25-Dollars, which resulted in a drop in attendance. Brown considered closing the theater until the owners of the retail center where the theater is located offered to reduce the theater’s rent 20-Percent for the next year. The theater’s next production begins Friday and runs through August 1st. Thorny Theater’s next season begins in the fall.
