The body of a 55-year-old man who was believed to be homeless was discovered Friday in an open field south of Desert Hot Springs. Sheriff’s Deputies say the body was found around 7 a.m. in a field at palm Drive and Dillon Road. It’s believed the man was a local transient who frequented the area, but his identity was withheld until next of kin could be notified. There was no sign of foul play, and he appeared to have died of natural causes. The investigation was handed over to the Riverside County Coroner’s office, which will conduct an autopsy.
