It's official, we're broke!

I wish I could say I was surprised or stunned by the fact that our illustrious legislators were unable to find a way to balance the state budget but I’m not. Our state didn’t get to the point of bankruptcy overnight and it isn’t their recent bickering over spending cuts versus new taxes that has created the need for the Government to send out IOU’s it has taken years and years of irresponsible spending and over all malfeasance by those we hired to be the stewards of our tax dollars. So where do we go from here? Well……..nowhere as long as Republicans and Democrats can’t agree on what’s needed to fix the problem. Increased taxes? Maybe…Further spending cuts? Absolutely! Why? Because programs can only be funded when the tax revenues are flowing. This state has been living on razor thin margins for years, meaning we spent nearly every single dime of tax revenue as quickly as it came in instead of saving a good portion of it for a rainy day. The result is obvious….we’re in the middle of a monsoon and don’t even have an umbrella. Look, I’d love to promise all of this money to provide a bunch of warm and fuzzy services that make us all feel good about ourselves but that’s just not practical. We have hired people to make the tough choices and be frugal with the money that receive from us. They have failed to do so and should therefore be treated like anyone else who squanders a companies’ money. They should be terminated or in political terms…..we need to vote the bums out. I just wonder if the people of this state will have the stones to do that?

BEARDS OK ON DISNEY WORKERS STARTING TODAY

Fri, Feb 03, 2012 5:38 am -0800 PST

Disneyland and Disney World workers can start sporting a beard to work as of today. It's a big change for the company that banned facial hair from the day Disneyland first opened decades ago until 2000, when rules were relaxed to allow for moustaches. And while that's all about to change, there are still limits. Beards and goatees will be OK as long as they're no more than a quarter-inch in length and not a “soul patch.”

The Department of Animal Services is offering a penalty amnesty until February 29th. They typically assess a $25 penalty for an overdue license application, but that fee is waived. The amnesty applies only to pet owners in unincorporated communities, and those whose dogs have been altered.
