The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is looking for more evidence of a cancer-causing substance in the ground water below the San Fernando Valley. The EPA will dig about 30 more wells to study levels of chromium 6 under Glendale and Burbank. The "Los Angeles Times" reports the study is funded by federal grants and by aerospace manufacturing firms that polluted the water supply decades ago.

Visitors were stunned when a man at Disney's California Adventure became very belligerent and took on a couple of bellhops at the Tower of Terror Saturday in Anaheim. The bizarre brawl was caught on a camera phone. Glen Horlacher took wild swings at security personnel until he was subdued by pepper spray. Police arrested the 53-year-old. One Disney security employee was treated at a hospital for injuries.

They decide who wins the Oscars, but the 57-Hundred-and-65 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are largely unknown, even to most Hollywood insiders. Now, a "Los Angeles Times" study finds Oscar voters are a much less diverse group than the movie-going public. Among other things, academy voters are 94-Percent white, 77-Percent male and have a median age of 62 years. And, since academy membership is for life, hundreds of Oscars voters haven't worked on a film in decades.

The Southern California Mobile Food Vendors Association is lobbying against a state Assembly bill that would ban food trucks within 15-Hundred feet of any kindergarten-through-12th grade school. It was introduced last week by Bill Monning and would be in effect between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on school days. Food truck owners say there are fast food restaurants close to many schools. The association has posted an online petition opposing the bill.
